Faculty Guild is building a data-powered platform for higher education. Their mission is to promote purposeful teaching as a vital component of student success.
I joined in the early stages of the project and defined the user experience and interface design.
We started by reviewing the existing platform, its goals, and user feedback. This analysis helped uncover areas for improvement. It also set the tone for its branding.
I redesigned the user interface and tweaked the logo to match it. All the new elements were documented, and that created the basis of an ongoing design system. The system evolved to include typography, colors, iconography, standard UI components, and interactions.
The next step was improving the user flows. I looked at existing data and focused on limiting the time and effort required on the platform. Another focus area was on assisting and rewarding users to maintain momentum. The end goal was to improve engagement through a seamless and positive experience.
Complete designs were provided, reviewed, and tested. I also assisted with their implementation.
The success of the initial redesign led to an ongoing collaboration. As a team, we kept on gathering feedback, iterating, and launching new features.
I highly commend the design development of the platform. From the small detailed stuff like appropriate color theory to the organization and flow of resources and information. The platform is designed extremely well and I think that is a huge benefit to the program.
The refined user experience is a significant differentiation point in the education space. Everyone who’s used the platform or sees it for the first time is impressed by how intuitive it is. Because of that, its benefits are immediately apparent.
As part of our collaboration, I also redesigned Faculty Guild’s marketing website. We started by reviewing its goals. Wireframes highlighting the content strategy and visitor funnels were a helpful tool in this process.
The designs matched and extended the visual language of the platform. The goal was to ensure a smooth customer journey from initial contact to graduating fellow. The new website was implemented using Squarespace with a completely custom theme. I also assisted in integrating various 3rd party marketing tools.
No marketing plan is complete with just a website. I also designed conference booth materials, social media and office templates, emails, and infographics. All these provide a consistent voice and help drive the messaging.
Lucian’s leadership in defining the user experience of our platform was a big part of our success. His expertise and continued support for more than two years proved invaluable. I hope to work together again and highly recommend him for any company in need of design guidance.
